After star Damian Lillard made his debut on the covers of NBA 2K, young talent Zion Williamson has the same honor.
Zion Williamson just made history with the 2K franchise when he became the youngest player ever to hit the cover of the NBA 2K video game. He is only 19 years old when this information is widely disseminated and will turn 20 when the game officially reaches players.
Before Zion, Chris Paul and Anthony Davis were the record holders when they both turned 22. One thing is for sure, both Paul and Davis played a lot more games than Williamson. New Orleans talent Pelicans played only 19 matches in the last rookie season.
2K announced that Zion Williamson will be available on the covers of next-generation consoles like the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. Meanwhile, Damian Lillard will be available on current platforms like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The NBA 2K21 game is coming out in the coming holiday.
In fact, the fact that Zion was on the 2K21 disc cover was expected before, when this player received a sponsorship contract from 2K. Williamson has been famous since high school for his powerful basketball shoots. He is expected to become the next basketball superstar after LeBron James.
“So many things have happened this year,” Zion told Sport Illustrated. “Was picked in the first round, then had to wait to make an NBA debut because of an injury. Then I went back and played 19 games. There was a lot of stuff that happened in those 19 games. Then the season was interrupted and then there was a hiatus. 2K announced that I will be on the cover. There are so many things that I have to go through.
PlayStation 5 will be released during an event on June 11, and Zion will be featured in a commercial during the event. “My first thought about it was that this commercial was really cool. It was crazy when I realized I was the one on it. It was an honor they chose me to advertise NBA 2K21.
