The 2020-21 NBA season is scheduled to start on December 22. And training camps will begin on December 1, which are just a few days away. Here is a ranking of top eight teams that are preparing for the upcoming season.
Brooklyn Nets
Thanks to their equivalent chances to succeed with dominance or fail spectacularly, Brooklyn Nets can be considered to be the most fascinating team in the Eastern Conference for the 2020-21 season. They will finally be able to put themselves on the floor they envisioned one year ago.
Let’s wait to see what Kevin Durant will look like post-Achilles injury, whether Irving will be able to play a fully healthy season, or what the club’s defensive is ceiling, and whether it will be enough.
In an ameliorated Eastern Conference, the Nets will have their work cut out for them.
Philadelphia 76ers
This off-season, president of basketball operations Daryl Morey and head coach Doc Rivers have upgraded the 76ers from a franchise teetering toward total dismemberment after another early playoff exit.
Their present plan seems to be to keep both Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons as the team’s cornerstones. Meanwhile, newcomers Danny Green and Ryan Broekhoff will provide a much-needed shooting boost that the club didn’t have last season as well as the inclusions of Terrance Ferguson and Dwight Howard will add some solid backup depth.
Indiana Pacers
This off-season witnessed no shortage of drama around the Pacers with Victor Oladipo involved in rumors that he wanted to be traded and a near-deal with the Celtics center Hayward falling through because of Boston’s disinterest in Myles Turner.
With just a few days away from training camp, the Pacers will start the upcoming season with virtually the same roster as in last season and hope that Oladipo will be able to regain his top form and consequently raise the team’s ceiling.
