It’s not uncommon for American foreign stars to play in China while playing CBA, but Ty Lawson has acted badly on Instagram.
Ty Lawson, a famous defender at the NBA in the Denver Nuggets shirt 10 years ago has suddenly “on the popular tab” in the US.
But he became famous again not for his basketball expertise, but because the 32-year-old defender was caught up in a scandal that caused him to be permanently banned from CBA – the Chinese professional basketball tournament.
According to a news site, Ty Lawson posted a picture of a girl in a Chinese porn club, along with bad words about this girl on Instagram: “Women here have real breasts. Maybe I have to change that. ”
The photo that Ty posted on Instagram was a picture of a female nightclub employee sitting on his lap.
Going out at a nightclub is considered an indispensable part of foreign stars playing at CBA, but what Lawson has done has made netizens in this country angry.
They see this as an insulting way to Chinese women. After reviewing the incident, Ty Lawson’s management team officially spoke.
“Ty Lawson’s inappropriate words violated the media’s responsibility and the image of the club, seriously affecting both the club and the tournament. We will not re-sign him for the next season.
More harshly, an information from Xinhua said that Lawson was permanently banned by the Chinese Professional Basketball League.
Additional note by Sports Illustrated, the 32-year-old defender has an alcohol problem and was arrested four times by police for driving after drinking alcohol. With this incident in China, it is likely that Ty Lawson has been affected by alcohol and drugs.
Ty Lawson has been playing at CBA since 2017. In between was a Playoffs return season to the NBA, where he played with the Washington Wizards.
From 2017 to 2019, Lawson played for Shandong Heroes Club. In the last season, Ty played Fujian Sturgeons, the team was ready to extend his contract for the next CBA season.
However, after today’s incident, Ty Lawson officially lost his chance to play for the Sturgeons and the CBA China Professional Basketball Tournament.
